Tenants Contents Insurance

Who is it for?

Tenants renting property under an assured shorthold tenancy.

Why do you need it?

You may wish to insure your own contents against accidental damage or theft for example. Consider the worst-case scenario, what if you lost everything you own in a flood or a fire. It can be very costly to replace your clothes, your furniture and your electrical items such as TVs and laptops. You may also wish to cover yourself should you damage something that belongs to your landlord. For example, if you spill a glass of wine on a carpet or damage a glass hob.

What can you choose from?

A tenant’s contents insurance policy should provide you with cover for everything that you own so you may wish to specify certain items such as phones and laptops. You may also wish to consider taking out a policy that includes accidental damage. Liability cover would insure you if you damaged something belonging to your landlord.
